Sky rocketing prices of moving and storage services in Bay area and how I managed to get a great deal
My parents spent their whole lives in a single-family house in Santa Clara. I consider myself extremely lucky to get to grow up in such a great place. Being the youngest child at home, I never really developed the sense for responsibility. One by one all my siblings moved out of my parents’ house, none of my sisters returned to live back with our parents after college, they all got real jobs and decided to make their own lives. It was just me who moved back to live with my parents with all my belongings as I couldn’t figure out in four years of college what I wanted to do with my life. After getting a degree in marketing with minor in social sciences, in family of a doctor, a software engineer and a senior auditor, I was pretty much the family disappointment.
Decision to Move Out:
I stayed with my parents for a year before I decided to get my act together. I applied for MBA and got a job as content manager in North Carolina. The idea of moving out sounds promising in your head but pulling it off is not an easy task. At first I was like, how difficult it can be to pack your clothes, shoes, books and miscellaneous item in boxes. After three days of emptying my two closets full of clothes and shoes, I gave up. I clearly needed professional help with moving out as I was taking some furniture from my parents’ house too (I know it sounds cheap but I couldn’t afford much at that time). I started looking for Moving and Storage Service in Bay Area, and for the first time I realized how expensive it is to move from one state to another. The minimum cost of moving from CA to NC was $5000 and that didn’t include storage.Finding a Good deal:
Almost all the moving and storage services in Bay Area charge a flat rate by the hour ($15 to $80) for three men and a truck and it can go way up if you ask for more men. I had to put in a lot of effort to find a service with good track record and economical rates (but I did, fortunately). The final review: The moving service I selected was relatively new in business but the way they helped me pack everything and then loaded it to the truck, no one could tell they were new. My luggage was delivered to my new apartment in NC on promised date and time and there was almost no damage to it. I was extremely happy with the services of Mountain moves, their staff was highly professional and skilled, had the best equipment and knew what they were doing. They provide remarkably economical prices as compared to all other moving and storage services in Bay Area.
